An Ecosystem Services-Centric Land Use and Land Cover Classification for a Subbasin of the Tampa Bay Watershed

چکیده

Land-use and land-cover (LULC) change is a primary driver of terrestrial carbon release, often through the conversion forest into agriculture or expansion urban areas. Classification schemes are key component landscape analyses. This study creates novel LULC classification scheme by incorporating ecological data to redefine classes an existing based on variation in above-ground tree carbon. A inventory was conducted for 531 plots within subbasin Tampa Bay Watershed, Florida, USA. Above-ground estimated using i-Tree model. Plots were classified Florida Land Use Cover System. Mean quantities carbon, class, tested statistical differences. reclassification these Sub-classes given “land cover” class similar six seven classes. Significant differences found “Wetlands” vegetation cover, forming two distinct groups: “Forested Wetlands” “Non-forested Mangrove Wetlands”. The use” showed between “Residential” “Non-residential” sub-classes, new classifications can sometimes aggregate areas perceived as that fact regarding variables. These aggregations obscure true parameter at scale. Therefore, study’s system should be designed reflect parameter(s) interest.

Monitoring and assessment of land use/land cover changes in Kashkan basin using futures studies approach in managing ecosystem services

Land use/cover change is one of the main factors in environmental changes. The changes directly affect the value of ecosystem services. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of land use/land cover change in the Kashkan area on its ecosystem services. This research was carried out in three stages, including the analysis of land cover changes, prediction of changes, and carbon st...

Influence of Land Use/land Cover Change on Saint Louis Bay Watershed Modeling

Saint Louis Bay Watershed is a coastal watershed located in southern Mississippi, which composes two basins: Jordan River Basin and Wolf River Basin. Two land use/land cover (LULC) datasets: the Geographic Information Retrieval and Analysis System (GIRAS) and the National Land Cover Data (NLCD) are applied on these two basins to simulate the hydrologic and water quality parameters by using the ...

Impact of land use and land cover changes on ecosystem services in Menglun, Xishuangbanna, Southwest China.

Changing the landscape has serious environmental impacts affecting the ecosystem services, particularly in the tropics. In this paper, we report changes in ecosystem services in relation to land use and land cover over an 18-year period (1988--2006) in the Menglun Township, Xishuangbanna, Southwest China. We used Landsat TM/ETM and Quickbird data sets to estimate changes in ten land use and lan...

Watershed conservation prioritization using geomorphometric and land use-land cover parameters

Geomorphometric features and land use/land cover are essential in the context of watershed prioritization for resources conservation and protection. Watersheds in tropical regions like the Philippines are under threat of degradation due to the combined effects of uncontrolled agricultural activities in the uplands and frequently increasing erosive precipitations brought about by climate change....

Using Post-Classification Enhancement in Improving the Classification of Land Use/Cover of Arid Region (A Case Study in Pishkouh Watershed, Center of Iran)

Classifying remote sensing imageries to obtain reliable and accurate LandUse/Cover (LUC) information still remains a challenge that depends on many factors suchas complexity of landscape especially in arid region. The aim of this paper is to extractreliable LUC information from Land sat imageries of the Pishkouh watershed of centralarid region, Iran. The classical Maximum Likelihood Classifier ...
